VARSITY BOAT RACE 2016

Alhamdulillah- Countless blessing were given to us this year!

Varsity Boat Race 2016 at Kompleks Sukan Air Putrajaya

Pusat Kecemerlangan Sukan (PKS)- Malaysia has been blessed to walk home with overall champion for Rowing event. No words could explain how grateful we are upon this award. All we hope for is that this achievement would open up a way for this event to be continued in the upcoming years with great hope Rowing would be known by younger generation especially in Malaysia.

Personally, this is my fight to retain and preserves the gold medal we had achieved last year for Women LW4- and Alhamdulillah syukur we managed to do it with hard work and perseverance (cewah skema gila). Honestly, they wasn't my best strokes and we did mistakes here and there but than again, I'm blessed with such strong crews and couldn't asked for more. They are the best I could wish for. They did not give up eventho we row is such choppy water and strong wind. Plus they already cope so much with me babbling throughout the training sessions. thank you guys! And thank you for believing in me (As always, weight is my main problem). Honestly, I've come to the point where I felt like giving up but knowing how much you guys had sacrificed, drive me on. You guys are amazingly oarsome!

And for women 8+, we did our best and silver is all we got BUT its perfectly fine. Its shows that we need more improvement and on water training, together in the future and because this is my last event and probably my last stroke as a rower, I wish you guys the best for next VBR and claim those golds next year girls! All those sweat, tears, bruises, and tanning session will surely paid off!

I'm going to miss you guys, A LOADS!

Internship in Jungle (As One Might Think)

Hi people. Assalamualaikum!

I was planning to drop off to tell you guys all that happened during my first day of internship but seriously I'm dead tired and almost collapsed (Read: Fall asleep) during Terawih HAHAHAHA so instead of my first day, I will sum them up in a weekly post plus I will turn this into my log diary for this 3months.

The first day of internship went so well I almost do nothing lol. Ouh undergo my Internship at

Pusat Penyelidikan Bioteknologi Glami Lemi Universiti Malaya

Institut Sains Biologi, Fakulti Sains

Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan

No it's not in Kuala Lumpur. Glami Lemi is a branch of UM which have special purposes mainly in agriculture at which they are having research and manufacture of Scizophyllum commune or known as Cendawan Kukur. Honestly, I didn't asked for this. Doing biotech for FYP, I was hoping to continue something related with biotech however, to my surprise, "Kalau awak nak buat research, balik buat dekat universiti awak. Here, saya akan ajar awak on administration, marketing, and so on" I was like what? I did not signed up for this old man but but but, on a side note, administration work is tough and they could give me a different prospect in working life as "Dunia pekerjaan ni sangat berbeza dengan degree yang awak ada sekarang"

We get quite a long lecture on history, departments in Malaysia, and stuff in the morning I almost fall asleep geez office work definitely not Afika. Aha! We. you are not alone~ Going to spend these 3 months of training with the same FYP partners :) Fahidah and Hazlin. Together with Tarmizi. To be truth, I did not even sent out the application. well you guys could guess kan? HAHAHA  yup that lazy :p

In the afternoon, we went for site visit. PPBGL, c&p from their Facebook page:

 is a 120 acres research facility consisting of an administration building, lecture halls, meeting rooms, accommodation, farmyard area, aquarium, nursery, mushroom house and composting area. There is also a beautiful lake, playing field and a nearby hill that can be used for trekking. In the past, there have been sighting of wild boars and tigers too! The nearest town to this facility is the small town of Kuala Klawang situated 10 kilometers away.

And this site visit is not meant for jalan jalan only. We were given a task to discuss and present what else could we do in terms of generating income, administration, and etc about the area. First day of intern and works haha tiring enough but thats life kan hmmmpphh. Given only 3 days to generate idea and presentation would be in front of all the staffs during meeting. Aaahh face palm!

Internship: Second Day

Briefing in the morning and lectures again and this time, I did tertidur hahahaha. Later on, we did a little auditing and inventory as PPBGL ordered few things. Petang pulak we continue doing the slide show for the presentation. For berbuka, this time, we went to rumah En. Azman in Senawang which took us freaking 2 hours to get there. Nasib baik bukan wa yang drive kalau tak memang ke longkang lah cerita dia. The road here is one hell of rollercoster but as always, I managed to fall asleep kahkahkah bangga pulak. Full and bloated, we get to PPBGL at 2am.

Our room is only above the admin building. One thing for sure, no traffic jam in here because its kosong kosong kosong in here. Here some preview of our hostel. Daripada Form 1 memang tak pernah lari dari duduk asrama. The good thing is, its freeeeeee Alhamdulillah.

Internship: Third Day

Did some correction on yesterday work, slide again, and here, writing this stuff. Orang nogori panggil ni, handau! mengular hang tau dak. dah dok tau nok buat nape. Macam ni lah agaknya kerja pejabat ye dok? Belum isi lagi log book. Its the third day already. Blogging sempat pulak lol

MARINE BIOLOGY = STUDY OF THE SEA

Assalamualaikum. Hi guys!

Myth 1: You need to be a biology student to enroll this course.

Reality: I took physical science during my matriculation years and one of my friend here took nursing before.

Here are some sciences notes (Important) on Bachelor of Science (Marine Biology). My point of view will come later. You will:

Graduating in 3 years (6 semester)

Completing at least 127 credit hours (compulsory to graduate)

Studying in School of Marine Science and Environmental Science

Having loads of fun!

So, as what i have promised you guys few days back, here are some glimpse of how being BioM student looks like. Anyhow, that is what we called ourselves, budak BioM and sciences students here are known to be the most selekeh students especially BioM and I really don't know how they get those ideas since I feel fab wearing jeans and shirt every day duhh so I'm here to object! lol. Speaking of attire, BioM is practically known to have lots of field work. We went to beaches, islands, mudflats, UMT's mengabang, nature parks, swamps, estuaries, marine parks, KLCC etc well this is basically based on the courses taken and elective subject we chose. hence, most appropriate attire for us would be old jeans (ready to be thrown out in case anything happen), sports attire, and rubber shoe if you must. You will found the importance of this shoe as you read along the subjects taken down below.

moving on to the subjects, here are the list of subjects taken by me these three(3) years. Some of them are electives and some of them are the core of this degree. 

1st Year: Botany Aquatic, Basic Microbiology, Introduction to Marine Science, Aquatic Methods and Instrumentation, Ethnic Relation, Islamic Civilization and Asian Civilization// Biochemistry, Genetics, Bilogy of Aquatic Invertebrate II, Marine Vertebrates Biology, Biostatistics, Malaysian Nationhood.

2nd Year: Coral Reef Biology, Field Course, Ichtyophysiology, Estuarine & Mangrove Ecology, Biological Oceanography, Public Speaking // Planktonology, Aquatic Pollution, Academic Writing Skills, KPSM, Marine Ecology, Marine Biotechnology.

3rd Year: Marine Biodiversity & Conservation, Eco-physiology of Aquatic Organisms, Fish parasitology, English for Occupational Purposes, Basic Entrepreneurship, Environmental Impact Analysis, Aquatic Law & Policy, Environmental Science: Issues and Global Perspective, Final Year Project, Internship.

Yup!

It gets difficult every semester but it does get easier as you go along, having good time completing all those endless assignments, lab reports, presentations. Did i mention we have loads of them and tons of other tasks? HAHAHA believe me, it was all worth it. I had cups of coffee though. They literally my blood right now!

Now,

As year goes, these won't be the same subjects that you will be taking. There might be changes here and there but roughly it is quite the same

Myth 2: Take up only electives that have relation to Marine Biology

Reality: Take up as many subjects as you want as long as they are not burdensome

Pin this down! the most popular elective would be Scuba which will provide you cheap payment for diving licence! but but but, there will be some tests before you are allowed to enroll this subject. well hm, you need to know how to swim which of course I failed HAHAHA but but but you can still dive with a little expensive amount under UMT.

The best part when I first came here is of course Pulau Bidong. BUT don't get it wrong. Pulau Bidong is NOT belongs to UMT, this island is under UMT supervision because one of UMT's research station is situated there so I got the chance to go there twice. Once for water confidence and stuff and second time for our fieldwork (a week). You will get more chances to go here if you are an excellent diver!

 

As an advice, equip yourself with loads of skills during degree years. Choosing marine biology has taught me a lot in terms of social skills, teamwork, confidence, and not to mention new fascinating facts (eh this one is not skill lol). Anyhow, it is experience of a life time! To put these in one post is not enough so I"ll update this again later if you guys have any question. Ouh btw, our club is known to be Marina Club. BioM student automatically will join in as a member.

Thank you for these amazing wonderful 3 years of my life. Honestly, I don't even know if I will ever survive this battle without you guys. I know I'm always out and away for rowing training and stuff and I know it is my lost for not able to know you guys in deep. The regret is mine. Thank you Sharu for being my first friend here, saying hi when I'm all lost. You're still the best exciting friend! Thank you Tan, Joyce, hajar, Shi Yan, Sophian, Kak Ain and Meor for wonderful presentation we had through 1st and 2nd year. Seriously you guys are the best when it comes to presentation and reports. I had my joyous moments with you guys! and I miss those honestly. Thank you Abol for guiding me through out my journey here. Thank you also to Lin, Fahidah and Mizi for idk, almost everything!

Been to few places I've never been

Met my ayah after what? 2 years?

Win two indoor rowing races- UTHM and Monsoon Cup

well I guess I didn't actually do much HAHAHA

Anyhow, it's a week of FYP presentation

but mine would be on 5th of May (1 week to go)

I just finished my slides yesterday phewwww

For the record, I never slacked in any of my presentation

but I have chills for this one as for my data is not that good

Ready to catch some bullets on that day!

Hi. this post was meant to be written like 2 month ago
Tapi biasalah Fika kan selalu acah-acah busy gosh haha

So, here we go
Met this guy at PLKN in 2012
I don't even talked to to him back then
I seriously don't remember why we are still in touch
Much probably because we're both using blackberry (okay sila gelak)

When I was in Matriculation, he was the one;
Giving me courage, saying everything will be fine
At that moment I'm just too tired living away from home.
Ouh forgot to mention, he was in KMNS but
After 2month he left for, MAS training somewhere in Subang
(After all nasihat he gave me to stay in matric he left. Irony lol)

And after that, we only contact each other through
Facebook( very rarely ) and twitter (once a month?)

Blablablablabla....
We finally met after 3 years 5 months
A bad smoker he became which doesn't look good on him
Merely because of his face. We even called him Jambu in PLKN.
So I guess you should know why.

Anyway, we went for a short trip to Penang yeayyyyy!
Its was all Escape Park, Makan, Makan, RM1 air botol, and Makan lulz
The best part was, coincidentally, It was Mid-Autumn Festival
(I hope you get great pictures of the night)
And the dormitory was great. He insisted to have a room with foreigner.
Apa-apalah afif.

Seriously, 2days 1night is not enough
Lets plan a better one okay next time.

tak lama lagi batch seterusnya akan ganti tempat kiteorang pulak so welcome to my juniors or should i say our junior since my sister is the first batch and i was the third batch at Kolej Matrikulasi Selangor and insyaAllah you guys will see me again there. eh no, im not PDT-ians. i assigned my name as one of the facilitators..i havent confirm it yet but insyaAllah (twice already fyka).

so been there and done that. been through the matriculation life and so on..so my advice first and foremost, for Minggu Pendaftaran Pelajar Baru (MPPB)

1. Datang awal kalau korang ak bilik bawah lah. dulu akak ni datang lambat padahal rumah dekat je so, selama setahun terpaksa lah mendaki tingkat 3 tuh. dah lama memang tak rasa tapi masa minggu mppb, dah lah kena berlari sana sini..memang penat jugak lah lagi lagi kalau korang jenis tido mati.

2. Beli setem hasil awalawal (sebab akak datang lambat) pagi pagi dah kena beratur dekat pejabat pos and it aint cool at all

3. Girls, dont wear heels. masa akak datang akak pakai heels tapi bila dah kena hantar barang naik atas hmm terus tukar pakai sneakers

4. Iron baju awal awal. jangan sampai sana baru nak iron. at least sediakan for the whole week sebab korang confirm penat and bila sampai bilik mesti nak baring je.

5. Minerals and bread . always always always bring it in your bag. no matter how much you hate minerals water and wheat, damn its like hunger games here bro. you got no time babe. macam korang duduk asrama lah kan, kita kan buat stock makanan dalam locker..to those who used to live at hostel, keep up that habit

6. Fan. hand fan, kipas pakai battery tu pun boleh. Matrik ni matrik baru no. we have no trees and we have no aircond in the hall..imagine you gonna spend most of your time in the hall. lencun wa cakap sama lu. so fan.

panas ouh tapi okay lah :)

7. Phones or Watch. time like usual, we like punctuality lagi lagi minggu torturing nie kan. faci suka sangat cari salah korang. ada sekali tuh akak kena berdiri sebelah kaki sebab turun lambat..nak buat camne, satu bilik tido mati. perempuan ragging tak teruk lah kut, lelaki hmmm tanya abang faci nanti okay kihkihkih


*maaf ye, abang sebelah datang jual tudung pulak..ape ke peliknya kan, okay sambung*


8. Practicum-mate or Roomate or anyone. Kalau boleh stick together dengan mereka mereka ni. takut nanti sesat ke bosan ke or paling menakutkan kalau hilang kunci..tak takut mana pun tapi malas nak cari diorang nanti. ha! save no. phone mereka mereka ini. kenali lah rakan kelas anda sebab ada sorang mamat kat kelas kau salah kelas for a week -______-"

9. Cool. stay cool all the time tapi jangan bajet pulak lain dah tuh..korang buat je benda gila gila macam korang selalu buat. masa dengar ceramah kalau nak tido, tido. kalau korang jenis yang cepat gabra and kalut, lupakan niat korang tuh eh sebab most of the rules will be delivered tapi kat buku ada je tulis. no worries :)

10. Friendly. time ni lah korang boleh buat kawan sebenarnya. tegur je seberapa banyak orang yang korang boleh..sebab, diorang ni lah yang korang akan ajak main futsal, bola tampar, rugby, netball and even cycling petang petang nanti. memang tak rugi buat kawan nanti jumpa jugak kat universiti

ouh and also. matric card and the whole pack of 1 sem schedule :)

and the best choice to ask is Faizie sebab dia dapat best speaker the previous week,

back to the speech thingy, i was honoured as best speaker of the day. madam kata aku nampak bersedia but frankly speaking, i wasnt..i just blurted out everything on my mind and trying to catch every sense coming out my mouth at the same time because it was unplanned..undeniable, i was holding myself from crying when i delivered those speech because i know, i wasnt up to that level to talk about the real meaning of love..and when i recall back what i've done in my previous years, nayy..just remember,

Allah lah yang memegang hati manusia. Dia juga yang memberikan rasa cinta. 

maka selayaknya, dialah yang kita cintai dahulu
